Insurance FAQ

How much will my insurance cover?

Insurance coverage depends on each policy and is determined by your provider. We’re happy to review your benefits and share what we understand about your plan, but factors like deductibles, waiting periods, annual limits, and exclusions can affect the final amount they cover. For the most accurate information, we highly recommend contacting your insurance company directly.

What is a deductible?

A deductible is the amount of money you must pay out of pocket to cover dental services before your insurance company begins contributing. Deductible amounts depend on each individual plan, so we recommend confirming directly with your provider.

What does “estimated coverage” mean?

When our office provides an estimate for you, we give our best projection of what your insurance company may cover based on the information available to us. The final amount you owe isn’t confirmed until your insurance company reviews and processes your claim. While our estimates are often accurate, any remaining balance after insurance makes its payment is the patient’s responsibility.

Why didn’t my insurance pay what I expected?

Insurance payments can differ from estimates for several reasons, including:

  • The procedure isn’t covered under your plan
  • Your deductible hasn’t been met
  • Your plan only covers a portion of the total fee
  • You’ve reached your plan’s annual maximum
  • A waiting period applies to the service you received

What’s the difference between in-network and out-of-network?

In-network: A dental office that has a contract with your insurance company and follows agreed-upon fees. Your insurer pays a portion of the contracted rate for covered services while you’re responsible for paying the remaining balance.

Out-of-network: Our office is out-of-network. We do not have a contract with insurance providers. However, you can still use your benefits with us, and we’ll help submit claims and estimate coverage. Your insurance may pay a portion of the cost, while you’re responsible for any amount they do not cover.
